Ohio is home to more than 700,000 veterans, 32,000 military personnel and over 15,000 military-connected youth. Supporting military families is a top priority within the Weathersfield Local School District. We understand the unique challenges these families face and are happy to provide services and resources, including those linked on this page, to ensure every child thrives. Our goal is to provide a welcoming, supportive environment where military families feel at home.

Purple Star School - Class of 2026

Mineral Ridge High School has been selected as a Purple Star School for the Class of 2026 by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, recognizing the school’s commitment to supporting military-connected students and families.

The honor was announced on Monday, April 20. Mineral Ridge High School now joins more than 800 schools across Ohio that have earned Purple Star status.

To earn Purple Star status, schools must meet several requirements, including appointing a military family liaison, identifying military-connected students, completing professional development, and demonstrating ongoing support for military families within the school community.

The Purple Star designation is valid for three years, after which schools may apply for renewal.

Weathersfield Local School District is proud of this recognition and remains committed to serving those who serve our country.
